Work

Current engagement

Bathymetrix is currently under contract with the Department of Geosciences at Princeton University
to manage MERMAID operations and data analysis for EarthScope-Oceans.

Contract deliverables

Software and data management

Bathymetrix manages the full lifecycle of data and metadata collected by MERMAID floats, from wrangling and analysis to curation and archival at the EarthScope Data Management Center. We emphasize clean, maintainable code and develop open workflows for long-term use through GitHub.

Original research and collaboration

Bathymetrix leads original research projects and consults with scientists interested in utilizing MERMAID data. We build software pipelines to associate untagged acoustic data with natural events, pick seismoacoustic arrival times, and analyze ocean-basin-scale hydroacoustic propagation.

Exploring Uncharted Waters

Nearly a decade adrift: MERMAID trajectories from the South Pacific Plume Imaging and Modeling array.

Hearing Submarine Volcanoes

Listening from the deep: MERMAID records the loudest sound on Earth in 150 years, from nearly a mile beneath the sea surface.
